The BRIDGE consortium met for its General Assembly and Consortium Meeting in Dijon, France, from 22 to 24 April 2026. Partners came together over three days to review progress, exchange ideas and continue shaping the project’s work on regulatory sandboxes for health innovation.
The meeting was an important opportunity to move from concepts to practice. Partners explored together what regulatory sandboxes can mean across sectors, how they can support responsible innovation and what is needed to make them useful, trusted and fit for purpose.
During the three days, partners worked through examples of technology use and relevant regulatory hurdles and developed an understanding of how BRIDGE can be expected to add impact to these technologies and processes, along with the design and testing of complete end-to-end sandboxes, where regulatory issues such as impact, ethics and suitability are examined.
The meeting also endorsed the ongoing work on BRIDGE case studies and the development of the project’s knowledge hub, which will be key in supporting uptake, dissemination and collaboration within the broader health innovation ecosystem.
The discussions in Dijon were particularly relevant, given the momentum that regulatory sandboxes continue to gain across the European Union as a mechanism to support innovation while ensuring robust safeguards. The meeting brought together expertise from across the consortium to help further shape BRIDGE’s contribution to future-ready regulatory approaches for cutting-edge innovations in the healthcare system.
